Dr. Jan L. Plass
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Jan<\/a> Dr. Plass is a Professor in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and\u00a0Human Development at New York University, and Paulette Goddard Chair of Digital Media\u00a0and Learning Sciences. He is the founding director of\u00a0 CREATE<\/a>, the Consortium\u00a0for\u00a0Research and Evaluation of Advanced Technology in Education, and co-directs the\u00a0Games for Learning\u00a0Institute with Ken Perlin.<\/a> He teaches graduate courses in Educational Communication and Technology<\/a> at\u00a0NYU MAGNET. Dr. Plass’ research is at the intersection of cognitive science, learning sciences, and\u00a0design, and seeks to enhance the effectiveness\u00a0of interactive visual\u00a0environments for learning. His current focus is on cognitive and emotional\u00a0design for simulations and games for math and science education, health, and cognitive skills development. He enjoys constructing Gedankenspiele<\/a> related to ed tech that he develops as part of his research and shares in his teaching and as a public speaker.<\/p>\n
